Google Chrome: Loading Issues and How to Fix Them?

Google Chrome is a web browser platform developed by Google. Everyone knows it’s painful to work on a slow browser. Chrome users have been using it for many years and there are many factors where Chrome is not working properly. This may be due to a number of problems. For its better functionality, it is important to know the properties of the browser.

It happens many times when pages take too long to load and we have a question in mind: Why is the page blocked? To solve these problems, we try to restart the page of the site for better results but sometimes it gives the same result. This type of problem bothers the user and takes a long time to open the page.

Of all the browsers available nowadays, Google Chrome is the most used browser due to its simplicity and loading speed. Its sync feature allows you to access Chrome across various operating systems, be it Windows, Android, or even iOS. While it is a great browser with great features, Windows users have a hard time working due to slow opening or lagging issues.

Several users complain that it takes a long time to boot on Windows. Some Google Chrome browsers take 10-15 minutes to become fully functional, which is totally unacceptable. If you are one of those users and wondering how to fix this, this post is for you!

Given Chrome’s reputation as the fastest web browser in the world, its popularity doesn’t surprise anyone. However, this browser still has problems and one of them is when it takes a long time to load. This article will give you answers as to why and offer several solutions to fix the problem.

What are the causes of Chrome slow loading and how to fix it?

It is commonly acknowledged that three factors—hardware acceleration, third-party extensions, and a folder called “Default” in the Google Chrome directory—could cause Google Chrome to significantly slow down.

Equipment Acceleration

A hardware acceleration function included into Google Chrome uses the GPU in your computer to accelerate operations and free up CPU time. However, occasionally, incompatible drivers result in erroneous operation of this function, slowing down Chrome. Therefore, it is advised to turn off hardware acceleration to resolve the issue of delayed loading.

External Expansions

Many users are unaware of how a Chrome browser’s performance can suffer by having a large number of plugins installed. Therefore, it is advised to turn off the majority of plugins, if not all of them, to see if it has any effect on Chrome’s loading times.

Default folder located in Google Chrome directory

The “Default” folder, which is used to store user profiles with preferences, extensions, etc., has been linked by some users to sluggish browser performance. Renaming the Default folder will make Chrome generate a new folder, which is the solution.

Step-by-step guide

We have created several step-by-step guides that we hope will help you fix Chrome’s atrocious loading times.

Solution 1. Disable hardware acceleration

Solution 2. Clear cache and memory

Solution 3. Disable extensions

Solution 4. Rename the “Default” folder

Solution 5. Reset the network adapter

Out of all five solutions the first three are explained below;

Solution 1. Disable hardware acceleration

The hardware acceleration feature in Chrome was designed to use your computer’s GPU to perform specific tasks to free up the CPU. However, depending on your system, it can have the opposite effect, causing Chrome to load for a long time when you try to run it. We recommend that you disable hardware acceleration.

1. Open Google Chrome.

Go to Chrome Settings

2. In the upper right corner, click More, then click Settings.

Click on Advanced

3. Scroll to the bottom of the window and click Advanced.

Turn off hardware acceleration and click Restart

4. Then, scroll down to the System section.

5. Disable the slider next to Use hardware acceleration when available.

6. Click Restart.

Solution 2. Clear cache and memory

Browser caching is used to improve the browsing speed of the websites you visit most. However, if your browser cache becomes full of outdated items, your browser may be slow to load. Therefore, clearing the cache can have a positive effect on Chrome’s loading times.

1. Open Google Chrome.

Go to Chrome Settings

2. In the upper right corner, click More, then click Settings.

Select Clear browsing data

3. Go to the Privacy and security section and click on Clear browsing data.

Click Advanced and always select

4. Select Advanced.

5. Next, open the Time Interval drop-down menu and select Always.

Select all options and click Clear Data

6. Next, select all options except Password and Login.

You may want to keep your passwords and logins, so we don’t recommend selecting them.

7. Click Clear Data.

Solution 3. Disable extensions

Browser extensions may take some time to load, thus slowing down Chrome startup. You can greatly improve Chrome’s loading times by identifying and disabling the extensions that hold it back.

1. Open your browser.

Go to More tools and click Extensions

2. In the upper right corner, click More, then click More Tools.

3. Then click Extensions.

Disable the extension

4. Select an extension.

5. Next, turn off the slider to disable the extension.
